Amy's Story

If you have ever watched the T.V. show Everybody Loves Raymond, that is almost the story of my life as it is now, except with a few changes. After High School I went to Missouri Valley College and graduated with a B.A. in Speech Comm. and Theatre in 1991. That summer I got married to Kevin Carroll (aka Raymond) and moved to Carmel, Indiana. Carmel was O.K. but it is kind of like the Clayton of St. Louis and people are way too into themselves. I got my teaching certification from Indiana University and taught school (which I loved). We moved to downtown Indianapolis after about five years in Carmel. We lived downtown for about seven years. After Christopher was born in 1999 I became a stay at home mom. I use the term "stay at home" very loosely here. I am not that patient...(thus the epic story on the classmates thing that only two people will read)... so I started a business selling my art work while...uh..."staying at home". Apparently I will never be one of those really good 1950's like housewives that pop out kids every year. Not only do I do the melodramatic almost die in childbirth deathspirals I also don't do the pregnancy thing very well either. Christopher was ten weeks early and weighed 2 pounds 3 oz. Eight and a half years later Zachary (our little surprise when we thought we couldn't have anymore) was 3 pounds 3 oz. and eight weeks early. Both boys are the absolute lights of our lives and as far as "normal" goes I always say..."They are as normal as anyone in our family ever gets." Christopher Paul is Nine and is always on the Honor Roll at School in Speedway. He is so good I have asked every teacher he has ever had to encourage him to not try to be so perfect. He is the kid that I wish that, just once, he would get in trouble at school. Zachary Dietz on the o...Expand for more
ther hand is only 10 months old and I doubt very much that I will ever have to encourage him to get in trouble... I just don't know where he might get that stubborn streak. As for the Everbody Loves Raymond show. Well after much nagging I convinced Kevin that we should move to Speedway because we would be so close to his parents (within walking distance) so there would be built in baby sitting!!! While they don't live across the street from us we do see them a lot. Everyday... sometimes twice a day... sometimes more than twice a day... I am sure the great schools are worth it...and the town is fun...it is like a through back to the 1950's. We are going through a big re-development and it is fun getting to throw my two cents in on the planning and streetscaping etc. I can literally see the Indianapolis 500 pagoda from my back porch (it would be great if I was a racing fan). Let me know if anyone ever wants to come to the races! Oh and if anyone is in the area May of 2009 I will be in a Show at the Indy Live Casino called "Gone Country". I still do my art work but don't do the big art shows in Chicago anymore. The wind and weather worked at my nerves a little too much. So I supply a few gift shops around the area and enter contests etc. My mom (Mrs. Nolkemper from the High School) lives in Northern Indiana now. I see her all the time and that is a good thing. She is one of my best friends. She comes down about every two weeks. Sometimes we do theatre and fine arts programs through the parks department here in Speedway. She also works at the Metone Bell Memorial Library and the Elder Beerman Fine Jewelry...(I love Christmas from her). I am not sure what to do next...I know I will be looking for a new career but am just not sure what. Would love to hear from any of you!!!
