Amy's Story
Life
It's hard to sum up a life thus far...I am blessed. I am a cancer survivor and am a very proud parent of a beautiful little angel named Samantha. I lost both of my parents to cancer (10 months apart) and then I myself also went thru the hell of it and almost did not get to see my daughter turn 4. While I was going through chemo my young Golden Retriever was diagnosed with cancer also. She died 2 weeks later. I have learned the hard way to try and not let the little things get me down. Unfortunately I have had to learn at a relatively young age to "seize the day". Needing a flexible work schedule led me to substitute teaching and working from home for Eddie Bauer. I feel like an old hag when I see what these kids are wearing these days and the way they act and talk. I live in a tiny town, on a small lake in the Upper Peninsula and love it. It is a very laid back way of life up here. I wake up to the ducks and their babies walking around my front yard and I see eagles flying over my deck. I met my husband in college and we ...Expand for more
took our sweet time getting around to walking down the aisle. I had my little girl the day before I turned 30. We were trying to have another child when I was hit with cancer. After 7 surgeries all of the cancer is gone. I pray I will never go thru it again. I don't go back to Port Huron too often because it just isn't home to me anymore since my parents are gone. My brother lives in Orlando so we make it a point to go to Disney every other year or so. I see that I have tons of "characters remaining" in writing my "bio" but I don't see a point of writing a big novel on what I have or haven't done since highschool. It's more important in what I am doing right now...here in the present...and that I am planning on doing a lot more. It may not be making a big difference in the world per se....but I just try to not take every breath for granted and I really do cherish family, friends and laughter!!! I will definitely try and make it to the 20th year reunion. I only hope that there is good food, good drink, and some great 80's tunes!
