Amy M.'s Story
Life
My life, so far, has been one full of adventure, joyous events and obstacles to overcome. Family is, and will always be my foundation which continues to be my backbone. I am committed to being the best sister and daughter to Mindy, Mom and Dad. Least I forget, being the best Aunt Amy to my twin niece and nephew is a priority.
Though some may find their life's purpose during their youth, I have discovered the essence of who I am through self-expression and a spiritual inner reflection on a daily basis later in life. From writing on scraps of paper during my youth, I am now a happy freelance writer striving to impart to others informative, inspiring and compassionate reading material. I would love to write a children's book in the near future with the assistance of my niece and nephew, while continuing to volunteer and work in the performing arts industry.
I am currently working part-time at a cultural institution in Philadelphia. I have met and continue to meet a broad spectrum of individuals that add excitement and wonder to my life while sharing the same.
Intimacy, I've found can be expressed on many levels and I enjoy imparting compassion to all those I meet. One thing I do wish I had been able to do throughout my earlier years in junior and senior high schools was to be myself, completely, without worrying about what others might have thought. There was ...Expand for more
such stigma about various issues back then. I pride myself in being completely upfront with my desires and passions now.
School
I loved the challenges that my years in school provided me with, yet they were often difficult, emotionally. As a young woman growing up in a society that frowned upon certain issues, I wish that I would have been more of who I am now or who I have always been. Crushes! Huh...I've got several...ask me...go ahead...I dare you.
College
I hated College! I was going because that was what I thought the next step was after high school. My first semester was in Pennsylvania at a college during a very difficult time in my life. I had two fellow high school friends living in another dorm, but I more frequently, than not, went home as often as was possible. I transferred the second semester back to Rutgers in New Jersey near home.
I continued to become more educated after Rutgers, by taking classes I was more interested in at Temple University in Creative Writing and Film, as well at the University of the Arts due to my interest in craftmanship. I, also, continued my studies in Ophthalmic Sciences at another college due to my employment status at the time.
I am now concentrating on all those skills I had while writing poetry and articles in my high school newspaper. Better late than never, I am working towards a prosperous writing career.
