Amy's Story
Ended up going to UCLA for Med school(85'), UCI for OB/GYN(89) residency. Married kevin(87)(anesthesia chair at UCI)had 2 boys Tyler-'89, Connor '92. Moved to Ann Arbor Mich winter '90. Am faculty at Univ Mich.Work 2/3 time so I can keep up w/ outside intrests.Live on 160 acre farm, have chickens, sheep, dogs , cats, garden.Moved an old barn (from 1860s ) and have lots of parties-kids,work, 4th July weddings of friends,etc.
We travel alot. Kevin and the kids and I just got back from Guatemala . We were on a Medical Mission in San Lucas and visited the surrounding pueblos to see patients. Usually had no running water, electricity. held clinic in cinder block bldgs with large openings for ventilation and light.If we needed to do a private exam some on lent us a bedroom. supervised 1st year med students and our boys ran a pharmacy .really a great experience.
I love my job (now that I dont have to be up all night for OB call). I dont think Ill ever retire since there are so many opportunities here at Uof M
that intrest me. Ill probably always work w/ residents and Med Studs. teaching. I have some intrest in clinical research in sleep/exercise in women.
We follow football,and basketball religiously as a family . Tyler has joined a rock...Expand for more
band and they will be practising in our barn this summer. Connor plays tennis (their team won state championship) and basketball.Life is fun in a small college town. Steets and businesses close on Sat football game days. Traffic is diverted one way (to the stadium)and away from the stadium after the game.
I remember high school as mostly positive . When I think of all the petty intrigues Im sorry I wasted so much time. I think med School was one of the most entertaining times of all my education. Every one was very close as we were all going thru the same things. The was an underlying sense of "black humor" that got us thru.I was fortunate to continue being on game shows. The third and final one was TicTac Toe. The came to our med school and we all took a test(on trivia).I got chosen and went on to win a significant amout of money which financed the rest of med school.I think I make a much better Dr than actress any way...
Well, I best be getting to work.Hope all is well and everyone has achieved (or IS achieving)their dreams.
I hope to be at the next reunion to see and speak to everyone.
Hope to here from you. Whts been going on w/ you the last 40 years?...
Still cheer for UCLA but am also a Wolverine since they pay my salary.
