Ana's Story
(Update Sept 22nd, 2013)
Pic is current and sooooo much as happened over the past few years. I'll come back and update it all when I have more time.
(November 1st, 2008)
Wow, it's almost scary to think that in 2 months it will be the year 2009. What really amazes me is that it seems like only yesterday the year 2000 was approaching. I guess I never took the term "time flies" very seriously. Regardless, I'm not going to complain about feeling 10 years younger than the year posted on my calender.
So, here's a brief updated version of my bio. I'm now officially divorced after 18yrs of marriage. As most can imagine, it can be very difficult holding a marriage together once you've been told that your child will be a special needs child. There's a big misconception out there that families grow stronger through situations like ours. The reality is the exact opposite. Lot's of blaming and emotional roller coasters. In the end it was for the best. I've finally realized what a hell of a strong woman I've become over the years. I have been so blessed by what I've been given. My son was completely healthy at birth. He progressed normally until age 2yr. After he turned 2 the seizures began. I know God blessed me with Jacob for a reason. I look at it like this: He sees the world with pure and untainted eyes. He will never see the pain and suffering in the the world. He only sees...Expand for more
the beauty in everything. To him, everything is a new and exciting adventure. His love is unconditional. To watch him sleep is like watching an angel. It's a time when you can truly feel an overwhelmingly sense of peace. He finds joy in the smallest of things and he's always smiling. He is truly amazing. Jacob has a wonderful father who loves him more than life itself. The bond that he and his father share will never be broken.
My parents live in Virginia as well, about 40 minutes from me. Trust me, I thank the lord for that as well.
I've been a stay at home mom since Feb 05. That was when I realized it was time for me to let go of the career and take over his primary care. He's in a special needs class at a regular Jr. High School so I do get a little free time during the day. :0) Trust me, it's very much needed. Prior to that, I worked in banking and finance for 13yrs. I also do some volunteer charity work with the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia.
I'm not quite sure what the future has in store for me, but I can't wait to find out what it is. Life is exciting and I have nothing limiting me to any specific location. As long as Jacob is surrounded by wonderful people and beautiful places for him to play and explore and he and I are happy, then we are good to go. I'll make sure to write when our adventure begins....It will be soon. ;0) Take care and God Bless......
