Perhaps the drought here has broken. Summer seems to be riding in on the back of thunder and lightening storms. I am awestruck by the beauty of these storms after a year of slight sprinkles; until my Rhodesian Ridgeback (all 50lbs) leaps into my lap to tell me, "OMG! The sky is falling!" Yep, beautiful, big red dog; terrified of storms or anything else that makes unexpected loud noises. I haven't found her any doggie-valium, but am about to try the plug-in that's supposed to calm and soothe. We'll see how that goes...
My son Johnnie, didn't make it out of Iraq unscathed. He had a serious PTSD break and toured the hospitals between there and where he was stationed in Oahu. I spent 3 weeks with him at Scoffield Barracks last month while he attended classes an...Expand for more
d training in the Transistion Warrior Battalion. Slowly but surely he's getting better. I continue to pray for him and all the service members directly involved in this war.
The quilting and designing remain satisfying. I've been experimenting with dying and painting fabrics and yarns. It's extremely messy and at the same time very satisfying; deeply so on that very basic kinderqarten level.
The Greater San Antonio Quilt Show coming up in September, so my time is starting to move faster and faster. I'll be entering 3 quilts and 2 art-to-wear items. Plus I'll be volunteering as often as possible. (yay...free entrance!)
