Andrew's Story
Second job out of college (University of Houston, Victoria Campus Grad) worked for the company that eventually became Enron. Left long before it ever became Enron and the nightmarish company it became.
Hired on with Occidental Petroleum in Houston in 1981. With my accounting degree, I filed revenue reports to various governmental agencies for Occidental's domestic production which included production owned by Canadian Occidental (Calgary, Alberta, Canada).
With the purchase of a Dallas based oil company in 1989 by then Canadian Occidental (now Nexen Petroleum), I was offered and I accepted a transfer to Dallas.
In 2011, I will have 30 years with Nexen (my vesting goes back to my Occidental days, ...Expand for more
since Oxy was the mother-ship, Corporate entity, at the time). Over the years in Dallas, Nexen purchased all stock owned by Occidental. I moved from the Accounting Department to an Operations Department as an embedded Accountant working with Drilling and Completions Engineers. For the past four years I have been working with a Procurement Group (Supply Chain).
With Nexen, my travels have taken me to Houston, Lafayette and to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
My wife, Pauline and I, have three children. Ashley Stryk Nickel, Anthony Stryk and Abbey Stryk all who reside in the Dallas area. My daughter, Ashley and her husband Tristan have blessed Pauline and I with our first grandchild (Cohen) in May 2011.
