Andrew's Story
Life has been good with a few bumps in the road along the way. I have been working for SMDC in Duluth since 1994 at St. Mary's. I held several jobs and most recently was managing the Patient Transport and Communication Center departments. Middle management to the core. On August 22, 2008 my position was "eliminated". A couple other managers got my work. So these days I am a full-time Mr. Mom. Some things in life you can see coming but this one is a surprise. I gave a good punch to my ego. Still things look bright and opportunities are lining up. I have severance for a while so am not rushed to find a crappy job. Perhaps finish that graduate degree I have been working...Expand for more
on for a few years? Who knows. Life is a challenge but only as fun as the amount of energy we put into it. My family has been awesome. My daughter turned one and is growing and absorbing information like you can not believe. At nearly 14 months she has two languages. Makes me feel like a ding-dong yet very proud. My wife is Russian so most of the time at home we speak it. All the people (friends, family, people at the store) speak English (duh) so she picks them both up at the same time. Trust me, it's strange. So here I am. Lost my job, a stay at home Dad, knowing my daughter is doing well. Bills are being paid and there is cold beer in my fridge. Life is good.
