Andrew's Story

i grew up around jamestown Ny for the first ten years of my life never liked to play outside much more into watching tv didnt have playstation then or i would have been one of those kids that gets locked into a game for hours on end and gets mad if they tell you to get off because you are so close to the nest level. at some point while living in ny my parents bought a piano wich i loved and i could pic out melodies to songs by ear but couldn't really play i took piano lessons but didnt like them that much when i was ten my family moved to viginia lived about 30 minutes from a paved road it was a whole different world their people were more laid back most were friendly i made some friends their and it wasnt bad got a cassette tape recorder back then and my friend always wanted me to tape the six million dollar man off the tv. we had a house on 30 acres with peach and apple orchards and sometimes the moonshiners would wander down off the top of the mountain the scenery was beautiful red dirt was something i had not seen before we lived thier about a year than moved to narberth pa i attended ardmore jr high and while thier took a piano course not sure what i learned in the course but my piano playing sort of took off at that point i figured out about playing chords although i was doing it wrong it sounded good i used to try to play with my eyes closed a lot of times just making things up as i went i met some friends thier but it wasnt to last either after about a year we moved to anaheim california i absolutly loved it thier there was so much going on contemporary christian music was really taking off i started off at trident junior high got involved in the music program thier and got to sing my first solo it was i write the songs by barry manillo at the time i wanted to sing annies song by john denver but mrs smith picked me for the other one it was a great experience the next year melodyland started a high school and i attended thier it was awsome it was so nice to have christian teachers that you knew cared about you and people that would pray with you i got involved in music at melodyland sang in the choir then in the madrigals we learned a lot of songs (holding on comes to mind) and went would go around different places and sing usually went in teddys van it was a great time i also ran track never was very good but ran the mile and 2 mile after my 2nd year at melodyland we moved to ...Expand for more
Lancaster pa it was a big letdown for me i still got involved in the music but it wasnt the same ended up doing some drugs and partying trying to find myself for a while made it through school somehow then went to stevens trade for auto machanics partied to much and failed out but during that time i met my first wife. lancaster general nursing school used to have dances and invite the guys from stevens trade i was still shy and probably didnt dance much not sure how it happend but ended up meeting the girl i would marry might have had something to do with me playing the piano in the lobby after a semester at stevens i failed out but kept dating the girl i met at the nursing school and after whe graduated we got married i stopped partying for a while but then we both ened up doing it after about two years we were divorced it wasnt what i wanted and i was devistated so i turned back to the one person i knew would never leave me or forsake me Jesus i didnt want to go to my parents church at that point i needed to go someplace else so i knew i was doing it for me and not just because of my parents. i ended up going to new life assembly of God and this is where i met my second wife. i was involved in music at church and had bought a dx7 keyboard which had just come out at the time and at the time Joy was leading worship for the youth so i ended up playing keyboard with her we became close friends and about three years latter got married after a year or so Joy and i moved back up to ny we attended cornersone christian center for a while and met a lot of great christian friends thier but at some point i started doing some music things with people from calvary chapel of russel pa just overe the ny border the worship time was so awsome and i just loved it thier we got realy involved i played in the worship band and ran sound some we also worked with the youth and at one point had 50 kids and things were good for a long time but after 10 years in ny my job started to go down hill and joy found an ad for a maintenance job back in lancaster pa i contacted them and went down for an interview 2 weeks later we had moved and for the last nine years this is where we have been we attended victory church here for a while the music was good and the people were super but for some reason it just didnt seem real to me now we go to a little mennonite church (who would have thought)anyway this is were we are today
