Andrew's Story
I've enjoyed a long and prosperous 26-year career in the San Francisco, California Bay Area as a Research and Development Engineer. I'm proud of the work I have done; I am a co-author in FIVE US patents.
Problem is, in July 2003, I got laid off due to a declining market as an indirect result of the 9-11 tragedy. I had to sell my Mountain View (CA) condo in late 2004, and was thus "homeless". My new-found girlfriend then asked me to move in with her. I accepted with no small amount of hesitation, because after all, she lived in San Antonio, Texas!
It's been twenty years now, and I don't regret a thing I have done. I am living in the SA area, enjoying the time I have with my Sweetie. She has retired from the Army and a civilian job that helped Army medical installations pass their Joint Commission inspections with no "blemishes" (and THAT's saying something!). If I hadn't met Beverly on Thanksgiving Day 2002, I'd probably be more of a hermit, living in a cabin in the eastern Sierra Nevada, near Carson City, NV.

ng to mush, I went back to school, and got a Master's in Biomedical Engineering (from UTSA/UTHSCSA) in 2013. Along the way, I also picked up a Graduate Certificate of Professional Development in Geographic Information Science, which means I can do digital maps, as well as the paper maps that I've ALWAYS been a "sucker" for!
I set up a consulting business in 2017, which branched out from when I worked for engineers and scientists at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) here in San Antonio. While working at SwRI, I earned an R&D-100 award with a colleague for a software product we developed that set up a computer model for detecting corrosion in/along pipelines hauling petroleum products. Nowadays, I work remotely for a colleague who is at one of the National Labs, so you can see my name in the US Gov't SAM database, as a contractor for Uncle Sam.
Of course, if you just want to say, "Howdy!", I'd also love to hear from you! My email address is andynordquist at netscape.net. I've kept out the at-sign, so you can just put it together yourself.
