Andy's Story
Life
I've owned my own retail business since 1983 but the thing I am happiest about is the online support group that I manage. The group is for patients, family and friends of patients of thalassemia, an often fatal blood disorder. The group was founded by my best friend Lisa, who was also an East High graduate. Lisa passed away in April, 2004 at the young age of 34. I have dedicated myself to carrying on her legacy and helping the people for whom she created her group. I want to create more awareness of this genetic disorder and would encourage everyone who reads this to donate blood regula...Expand for more
rly. Thalassemics are the number one users of donated blood yet most people have never heard of it. Your blood can help keep someone else alive. Share and know that what you are doing is a great thing. Without the help of others, thalassemics would not survive. Thanks for listening and do something special in Lisa's name. If you had known her, you'd know how special she was and how much it means to give your help.
7/06 My recent trip to the Maldives islands to work with the thalassemics there was the most incredible experience of my life.
