Andy's Story
Life
Well, I am still a vegetarian and still have long hair (with a bit of grey!). I have given up all the "high" adventure from high school days and now prefer camping, scuba diving and feeding the squirrels. I have a masters degree (something for a high school drop out!) in Counseling Psychology with 2 Specialties in Chemical Dependency (I was doing 'research' in High school!). I worked as a Behavioral Therapist, in Chemical Dependency. Financially well off, no debts and am reasonably happy, I quit after 7 years in the field! I love my dogs, reading and caring for my house plants. Fiji, or Oceana trips once a year are a highlight.
Between High school and today I dropped out and sold whatever was 'in' at the time. I can't count how many Greatful Dead and related shows I have seen, saw at least 4 Dead shows after I got clean, dropped out of that scene when Jerry died, dropped back in 2009. Ended up dying myself in the 80s, several times. I can't live on 'coke' and Gin, that I now know. Been clean since 11/23/89. Still single after all these years. Get that, got money, got looks (so I am told) but never been able to go past the dating stage. I guess it will take a strong love for that to happen. I'm into BBW if you know what that is. Love Los Straightjackets and Tiesco Del Rey for music. I collect 30's-50's Science Fiction Anthologies. My house can be quite a mess, a guy with 2 dogs living alone, you can imagine! I keep a 360 on ya-hoo, known as the dogdude1958. Am running out of things to write. But if any of you out there feel sad, or lonely, or stuck on stupid, or whatever, it always passes, always has and always will. Cravings last 20 minutes. Loss, a heck of a lot longer. But make it to hindsight 'cause one day you might shake your head and laugh "What the heck was I thinking"!
Where have I lived?
With parents in Texas, Palos Verdes Ca., San Fernando (Sherman Oaks). On my own in Van Nuys, Reseda, in my car around the Valley, an empty lot in Elesian Park area, A rehab near UCLA. My folks rented me a trailer to move to Oregon to get away from the pot and other drugs (Yeah, no pot or 'other' in Oregon!). I moved a few times up here to stay 1 step ahead of the law. Been some strange places in P-town and it's west burbs. More recently been moving eastward towards Central Oregon 'cause I love the Big Trees and High Desert! I now a have nice home in Gresha Oregon. 'How do I hope old friends remember me'?
I guess as the guy who just wanted enjoy life with some of the best folk I ever met.

The one person from my past I'd most like to see again, that is a hard one, but since I am bad at names, to remember one must be pretty special, and she was. Margaret Dever from Grant I think. I'd like to see her because she is/was on the same wavelength as me and she was/is BEAUTIFUL. Red hair, freckles, cute face and perfect bod! (Okay, I am sounding like I did in High School, but Margaret, if you are out there...)
My obsessions?
Well, there is Margaret:-). I like finding little known indie instro surf bands, Sci-Fi anthologies from the 50's, Apple/Macintosh and gardening.
My biggest surprise?
No kids, never married, still alive and buying my 1st legal motorcycle at age 51!
I have been remodeling my home, added about 400 sq.ft. to make a master suite, re-did the kitchen cabinets and appliances, and am starting on the guest bath.
My dream home would be a cabin on acreage next to the Ochecos in Central Oregon.
School
Gosh, I went to nearly every high school in the San Fernando Valley, graduated none! I had several crushes but I was to shy to express them. If I could do it all over again I would like to have avoided a lot of the trouble I got into, but I met some really nice people in my croud, so I don't know if I would change things. Happiest moments were "trips" to the mountains and a long hike to a nude swimming hole (Kommodor Schwitzer we used to call it).
College
I received an Associates degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from the local community college, A bachelors degree in psychology and sociology at a local liberal arts college and a Masters degree in counseling psychology from Lewis and Clark College. I always had very good grades.
Workplace
I have done 3 internships and was hired at each. The first 2 I quit to continue my schooling, the facility I did my 3rd internship at gave me 5 years of very good pay!
I always wanted to be a beatnik when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were half right!.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 50 grand of it to the Humane Farming association, then spend the rest on property, good health and a good woman!.
I used to tube out, now I get on my bike and cruise the rural areas by my house. Favorite way to relax, back yard hot-tub, camping, walkin' the dogs.
