Angela's Story
Let's see. Our Lady of the Presentation and Pleasant Lea grade schools, St. Regis for junior high, O'Hara High School, Benedictine College, then Longview Community College, moved to Nebraska, married a college sweetheart, bought a house, got bored, joined the Air Force. Went to Defense Language Institute, twice. Studied several foreign languages. Stationed in Arizona, airborne linguist. Went to Germany, but had health problems. Came back to US, was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Was grounded and joined the base honor guard...Expand for more
(That was fun!) while they debated what to do with me. Faced Medical Boards, was medically discharged. I fought the discharge because I loved the job, had just re-enlisted for 6, been selected for next promotion, etc. But there's no cure so they wouldn't keep me. Went back to college (Univ of AZ, Excelsior), got a BS with concentrations in computer info tech and several Slavic languages. Got divorced, remarried, had a baby in '08. Y'know, it sounds so dry now, but it sure seemed exciting and stressful while I was living it...
