Life
I had a stroke in November of 1999. I had a bleed in the area of the thalamus. It initially left my left side paralyzed. I spent some months at Gaylord. It was a wonderful place. I walk with the aid of a cane. I no longer drive. My reflexes are not as quick as they once were. Having the stroke has been the most deciding event in my life. I have learned that one becomes marginalized in our society when you become disabled in some way. People do not stop by to visit, they don't call. ...Expand for more
It is almost as if people are afraid you will ask them to do something or they act like they might catch something.Most people are really self absorbed in their lives. I am not complainig. This is just an observation I have made and a conclusion I have come to. As we get older and our classmates age,this sort of a situation might happen to you. I hope you experience a better outcome. The hospitals and rehab don't really address this problem. So here are my 2 cents,if anyone cares to look.
