Angelique's Story

Check out my photo album please. I just recently won the 2009 Mrs. Show Me Missouri State Queen title. But, my most exciting High School memory was when I won Miss Rolla 2000. After High School, Jason Eskridge (RHS class of 2000) and I got married in June 2001. We have a beautiful boy named Kaleb, born August 12, 2002. We lived at Fort Leonard Wood for awhile and Jason went to Iraq in 2003. Years later, after things weren't working out, we mutually agreed to go our separate ways and divorced in 2005. I did though have a beautiful baby girl named Kayleigh, born June 21, 2005. My husband now is Steve Buerk (originally from Sullivan). We met working together at the Lowes store in Rolla. We immediately knew it was "meant to be", and got married in February 2006. He is quite a man by accepting two kids that are now his own. He plans on adopting them both when we get the finances. I couldn't ask for a better husband. He is absolutely wonderful and treats me like a queen. All my life, my hobbies have always been "Beauty Pageants and Cheerleading". So, I wanted to continue with that as I grew on with my kids and new husband. I became a cheerleading coach for the Rolla Middle School for 5 years. In 2007 my daughter and niece, Adrianna Stagner, was able to cheer on my cheerleading squad. I then became a Pageant Director for the Phelps County Sweetheart Pageant from 06-08 and a Miss Missouri Outdoors Regional Pageant Director from 07-08. Then in 2008 my daughter won Baby Miss Missouri Outdoors. In 2009 she is the reigning Little Princess Show Me Missouri. So, I guess you could say "Like mother like daughter". She is following in my footsteps :-) My son Kaleb just started Kindergarten and won Little Mr. Meramec 2008 at the Meramec Community Fair in Sullivan in June. I am so proud of both of them. My husband, kids, & family mean everything to me. Sadly, my mom just recently passed unexpectantly in November of 2008 at the age of 46. It has been so incredibly hard for all of us. My sister Kristi Jones (RHS class of 2002) lives in Atlanta, Georgia now. My sister Alisha Stagner (RHS class of 2004) is still in Rolla. My dad and brother S...Expand for more
amuel Jones, (now a freshman/ will be class of 2012), have just recently moved to Cuba, MO. I am currently attending East Central College for my CDA degree. Which I will receive in August 2009. After High School, I went on to became a pre-school teacher. (Started in 2002 when I was pregnant with my son.) I wanted to learn how to teach children, to be able to give my own children the best start in life. I have always had a passion for kids & love working with children. I am currently still a pre-school teacher, and work at the "All Aboard Learning Center" now. Between work, college, kids, husband, & traveling all over Missouri with my new pageant title, I guess you could say I stay pretty busy; Living life and loving it! Unfortuneately, in 2002 I lost the muscle control in the left side of my face, after my brain had dropped down from too much spinal fluid loss, during complications with the epidural when in labor with my son. My face was never the same again. It looked like I had a stroke. The entire left side drooped down. I couldn't blink my eye or even move my jaw to eat. It was like my facial muscles were completely frozen. Because my lips couldn't come together, I couldn't drink through a straw, whistle, or pronounce my B's, P's or F's. It was a horrible experience. After 7 years now it is a little better, but it will never fully be back to how it was. My left eye is alot smaller than my right because of so many years of the muscle loss. And my smile will be crooked for the rest of my life. I went through a lot of self-esteem issues and thought I would never see my dream of becoming a Mrs. Missouri queen. But, I never gave up. I became 2007 Mrs. South Central Missouri Outdoors & then 2008 Mrs. Mid Missouri Outdoors. Finally my life long dream came true when I won the 2009 Mrs. Show Me Missouri State Queen title. So, here is a life lesson: Despite all odds, No matter how hard life can get; Just be yourself & Never Ever Give Up! Everything happens for a reason. You may not understand it at the time but, as you get older and look back on your life, you will see more clearly. May God Bless You Always, Angelique.
