Anita's Story
Life
I escaped from Indiana at the age of 18 and, to paraphrase Bob Dylan, I never looked back! I finished my university education in Fullerton, California, (B.A., M.A.+) where I also began my teaching career at Servite High School at the tender age of 22. (It was "trial by fire", but you guys were great and still retain a special place in my heart!) After 5 years, I left Servite to teach at Troy High School, Fullerton College and Cal State, Fullerton.
After an unsuccessful marriage and a lot of soul searching, I took my first trip to Europe at age 31 and from that time on, I spent as much time abroad as possible. rainer for executives from multi-national companies. In 1990, I moved to Munich after my second husband, Paul Obler, and I (we married in 1975) decided to separate. I lived in Munich for 17 years, enjoying the cultural life and convenient location in central Europe which allowed me to travel extensively. I've had a very happy and rewarding life and feel extremely lucky to have been able to experience so many different people and cultures over the years.
On July 16, 2007, after a lot of deliberation, I moved Rochester, NY, to retire, but after a year of snow and cold, I made the decision to move south, to Wilmington, NC, a beautiful, small city on the Atlantic Ocean. The climate suits me quite well, and I plan to stay for a while! (I never say, "forever" for obvious reasons!) While I really miss Europe and all it offers, I'm also content being "back home".
