Ann's Story

I grew up in San Bernardino until we moved to Sepulveda, Cali when I was eleven, 1963. I went to Sepulveda Jr. High. I played the viola in the orchestra. I also liked to lip sinc at the Friday dances with a group we created mimicking the Supremes. I went to Monroe High my sophmore year and tried out for cheerleading. Two of my best friends were cheerleaders. And I would like to reconnect with them. Pam Ford and Sharon...I can't remember her last name. Was it Bean? Pam's family went to my Dad's church. Yes, I was the preacher's daughter. Sharon was in the orchestra with me. She played clarinet. I didn't make it as a cheerleader but did make it into the drill team yet before I could march we moved to Chula Vista near San Diego. At Chula Vista High you may remember me hanging out with the foreign exchange students as we hosted Nanou from France my senior year. I also sang in the Madrigal choir. I went on and got my degree in Music Therapy but am working in the public schools as a substitute teacher. I've traveled quite a lot. First went to England and Finland in 1972 for a year. Then went to South Africa for six years with my first husband from 1980-1986. I loved Africa and was there to see apartheid begin to get dismantled. I was in Chicago for over 16 years on the Northshore. Then went back to SO Cal to be near my Dad during his last years, 2001-2006. I was in China for the last school year, returning in August of 2007. My first born got married in October. Two years have passed since I first wrote this so now I can update it. I now have my first grand child, Luka. He is about nine months old. They live in San Francisco area. I'm looking forward to going there for Christmas. I have recently been hired by a hospice to be their res...Expand for more
ource Music Therapist for Kenosha, Racine and Southern Milwaukee. I still substitute all subjects and all levels from Pre-K through high school for Zion and Beach Park area of these North most border of Illinois and live in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It's a twenty minute commute. My youngest is 14 and my step daughter is thirty years older than my youngest....so we have quite a range of ages of our six children. I also communte to Wilmette, Illinois to sing in the choir for the Baha'i House of Worship, which is the mother temple for North America. This means it is the first House of Worship built in North America. I learned about the Baha'i Faith when I first moved away from home and went to Cal Western University in Point Loma, California. Yes, I have been to seven colleges so far, if not more. Let's see...Southwestern Jr. College in Chula Vista, Calwestern which became USIU and then I went to the English campus. While there I transfered to a college in Jyvaskyla, Finland for one semester. Then came back to San Diego area and then moved to El Centro, Calif and went to a branch of San Diego State University. I was working on my teaching degree. While in Europe I had learned about Music Therapy so when I met my first husband and moved to be near him I changed my major to Music Therapy that was available at Texas Woman's University. This is where I got my bachelors degree. I did graduate work at Columbia College in downtown Chicago. When we moved back to California I did early childhood courses at Palomar College in San Marcos. I also began my love of painting with water colors at a branch of Palomar in Escondido. So that is at least eight colleges. It's been fun to try and find old friends. Please write on the message board. Bye for now. Anna
