More about Ann:"I grew up as Ann Dorries and lived in Pelham Heights in Anniston, AL, a neighborhood across the highway from then Ft. McClellan, so we had neighbors from across the country & loved it! It was great knowing different people & cultures.
I've been married to my hubby Ray since 9/5/70. Ray and I are Catholic and profess that God is our Father and Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, and have always practiced God first, family second, career life, third. By the grace of God, we have 3 sons - Fred, Mike, Joshua, and 6 grandchildren -- Kayla, Danny, twins Stormie and Kyrra; Tabbitha; and William. Plus grandson-in-law - Chris Sheffield married to Kayla & their children, our great-grandchildren, Alex, Ezra, Isabelle and Sebastien. Plus granddaughter-in-law - Khahliah married to Danny. When we first moved to GA, Ray and I cared for foster babies --had 4 babies who we nurtured and loved. It was an incredible experience. But nothing replaces our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren!
We live in the metro Atlanta area about 8 miles east of Stone Mountain, GA, in the town of Snellville. Highway 78 runs right through the town. It has grown so much since we moved here in 1997. Our oldest Fred and his wife Jenn and children live within 8 miles of us; our middle son Mike lives about 15 miles away; and youngest son Josh also lives nearby.
Mom and Dad are deceased. Mother died in June, 1999 after a very long (12 year) battle with Alzheimers. Our dad cared for her all those years at home, even when Mom became bedridden after breaking her hip 2-1/2 yrs before her passing. He had a massive stroke barely 4 months later, survived the stroke but caught MRSA virus, survived that but the drugs to help him through that were so potent, they damaged his kidneys and he died of kidney failure in February, 2000, the night before they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary!
I have 3 sisters who all live in NC, and 2 brothers, who live in Alabama. We are very close and I love them all very much. All 6 of us graduated from Jacksonville High School. It was the best school ever!! I look forward every year to having our high school get-togethers.".
