Ann's Story
I taught Science for 30 years, 2 at Memorial HS in West New York, NJ, 1 at a middle school in New Milford, NJ, 2 at Cresskill HS, and 25 at Park Ridge HS. I retired from PR in 1994. I moved to Nellysford, Virginia in 1999. My home is in the country with a great view of our valley and Blue Ridge Mts. I am part of wonderful community of people. I have a passion for digital photography and have won 2 local contests for my nature shots. Two local restaurants have featured my photos along with other artist's work over this year. It is wonderful to get reinforcement that my photos are appreciated. I loved being a teacher, it was the right life for me. Since I am a part of Classmates, I have been getting alot of emails from former students. They tell me what part I had in their lives. Teachers need...Expand for more
to hear that the time spent in the classroom was valuable and really meant something. It is difficult to realize that some of my earliest students are grandparents. My memories of them stop when they were teens. Park Ridge was the best place for me. They let me grow up at my pace and rarely got upset at my antics. I wasn't a standard issue teacher and they let me be me. I will forever be grateful for that. I love Facebook. More and more former students have found me and let me know what role I played in their lives. For the past three years I have created a calendar of my photos. Part of the sales was to benefit a local animal rescue and rehab. facility. I raised $500. People just threw money at me. What a good feeling to have my photos appreciated and help a local group at the same time.
