Ann's Story
Hi Friends, Most of you have seen me often at the reunions. I try to make it even though I left Cinci in 1979, first to Texas then to Colorado. I worked for IBM as an instructor for 15 years and LOVED my job until I had to go on disability obviously for health reasons. I was diagnosed with systemic lupus in 1977 and have had a couple close calls over the years. I am still considered an employee but am on disability, so I am getting good benefits and some (very little) pay. My lupus did go into remission after I quit working but it has a lot of side effects that I still deal with...BUMMER. I try to take each day one at a time. I married in 1995 here in Colorado. My husband has two grown daughters so I am enjoying grandchilren. I love to read, stitch, make jewelry, plan block parties, babysit ...Expand for more
and make new friends. I feel my purpose in life is to help other people. What I have been through has only made me stronger and allowed me to experience heartbreak and PAIN so that I can empathize with others. I love to laugh. I love God. I love my family. And I love people!!!
One strange thing about this illness is that the meds do funny things with your memory. I have many great memories of high school but I have also lost many unless they are triggered by someone else's comments. Just ask Donna (Jones), or Sheila (Wagner), or Diana (Frederick)...they will tell you...I tend to forget things. By the way, Diana and I were roomies in college (at Miami U.). Now her son, Mike, is going to school here in CO so I get to see her a little more often.
Write and say Hi! Maybe give me a memory...Annie
