Anna Farren:

CLASS OF 1968
Stinnett, TX

Anna's Story

If I typed my story I would need to write a book. I will try to make it brief. My parents moved from Stinnett in June 1968. I didn't get a chance to see many of my friends to tell them good-bye. We just moved to Jacksboro, Texas, that is my parents did. I was left in Archer City, Texas to find a job. My dad had enrolled me at Canyon for the fall semester but I was too scared to go. Since I didn't get to walk across the stage with my classmate of 12 years, I had really fallen apart and was depressed. I guess my parents noticed that at the time and thought it best to start fresh. I don't really know why they decided to move so quickly and I will never get to ask as both my parents died years ago. I married in 1969 and had two boys. Lived in Kentucky, Holland, Germany, Lubbock, Brownwood, Houston and Round Rock,. I was divorced in 1983 and moved to Austin. I didn't have a job or a place to stay. I left the boys with my X until I found a job and a place to live. All worked out as I did get a job with the Texas Department of Public Safety and a friend I had known from Brownwood, Texas that had moved to Austin and needed a roommate. Boy, was I glad to see her and have a place to stay. I met my new husband at church and we married in 1985. He had two boys as well. I won't go through all the heartache that happened over the years trying to raise our sons. Some still need to mature and accept responsibility for their life. For the most part they are doing ok. We have two grandsons and two granddaughters from my sons. Both of my parents have passed away and I do miss them, very much. I retired in 2010 after losing my job and I decided that I was not getting back into the rat race again. I have worked for 37 years and I needed a break! During my time off this past year I created a website (grannysbestrecipes.com) for my kids and family. I am so proud of myself and my talent. I sometimes think I really didn't use my talent like I should have. I do enjoy reading, arts and crafts with the girls and I still like to cook. My husband, Jim, has taken over since I had a serious fall in February 1994 and messed up my back and neck. Then in May 19...Expand for more
97, I fell again and really hurt my back that time. I am in pain but my mind is good! I have been employed in many jobs that helped me gain knowledge, experience and success even though one teacher from high school felt I wasn't good enough to graduate with my class. I learned quickly that I could do anything I really wanted, if I applied myself. Waitress: didn't like this job at all Insurance reception: the boss was too "old" and I was too young Drug store: this was fun - lived in Kentucky Fast Food: the boss stayed drunk - lived in Kentucky Children's Department: enjoyed this job - lived in Browwood GTE operator: enjoyed this job - lived in Brownwood Dept. Child Services: good job - Brownwood Jewelry store: ok - divorced - Brownwood Texas DPS: Austin Sub. Teacher Round Rock ISD: this job was very rewarding - got married 2X Clerk for Round Rock PD: liked this job very much Juvenile Probation Officer: great job Assistant Court Administrator: best job ever - retired So, I bet no one else has had this many titles or jobs. I guess that's pretty good for 37 years. Life is good and God is great. I am enjoying being at home for the first time in my life. I have noticed that I missed out so much by working while my boys were growing up. I see this because of my grandkids. (Update) On 9/6/2020 I had a stroke which affected my left side.I can't walk nor use my hand/arm. It has been a challenge. my husband is my sole caregiver and does a great job taking care of me. H is getting tired. He has all the house stuff to do. The best thing is we have wonderful neighbors that have been so great to bring in food so Jim doesn't have to worry about cooking us meals. Did get an electric wheelchair but I still can't go any where as I can't get in nor out of a vehicle. we can't afford to purchase a van as they cost way too much. It would be wonderful to see my sister again before she passes away. I only have my sister and one brother left. Well, that's all for now. It's hard typing with one hand. love all who have checked me out. Thank you so much!! Don't forget to check out my website. it took me a couple of years to complete. God bless All of you!!!!!
