Anna's Story

Life "Art is NOT what I do It is WHO I am". Anna M. Malik is an artist and Graphic Designer by nature not by choice. What exactly does this mean? From as far back as I can remember I have always been creative in some way shape or form. As a young child I experimented with a variety of projects and instead of running around playing I enjoyed the file cabinet full of art supplies my grand mother had set up for me. At age fourteen I began high school at A.A. Stagg, located in Palos Hills IL. This is where I began exploring opportunities and career decisions; this is also where I learned much of what I know and the start something greater. During my sophomore year I sat down with my counselor and told him that I wanted to take as many art classes as possible by the time I graduated. We set up a plan that would allow me to take several throughout my last 3 years and for my senior year I would have art all day for the entire year; with the exception of English and Gym. After high school I was accepted to the American Academy of Art as well as Columbia College of Chicago. Unfortunately my father was against me becoming an artist and refused to help me go to either of these schools. I went to Moraine Valley Community College (about two blocks away from my former High School). I became bored of repeat projects and the same teachers that I had at Stagg. So I took some time off of school and spent 5 years raising a family. During those five years I spent a lot of time at home working on various projects. I had two children Madalynn and Alyssa and was married to Anthony Victors, however, the marriage went bad and I divorced Tony in November of 2000. I am a painter and a designer as well as a photographer and webmaster. Since I still yearned to become an artist and felt unfulfilled because of the decisions that I had made. I decided to go back to school and complete my degree. At this time I choose to go to Robert Morris College located in Orland Park IL. I have become very well respected and well known for the work that I do and often displayed. And I have earned a lot of respect from other's that often ask for my advice and help on various assignments. I have learned a lot about computers and I have gone the extra mile to obtain all the programs needed to advance in my studies. I earned my Associate in Graphic Art with a Graphic Design major in November of 2002 and will obtain my Bachelor of Applied Science in Graphic Design with a Graphic Art Concentration in April of 2004. I love what I do. I eat sleep and dream art. I am persistent yet personable and I have an appetite for learning that can’t be quenched. The most recent part of my life is simple.
