Anne's Story

Life hum... Moved to Vt in 1962 after 5 children. 1 boy and 4 girls. Started to take night classes at Champlain College in 1964 in Accounting and got a job that same year. Wanted to be a computer programmer but who would take a chance on a young mother with 5 kids. Nobody!! After a few years in Accounting did get a pretty good job for Pizzagalli Const. Co and they sent me to computer school and worked both in Accounting and Computer Dept. Hurray!! Always after that I've had my hand in both. Had several more jobs in Burlington, VT area after that but ended up as Treasurer of Elan Skis. Good company and had a great job there. Handled all accounting, computer and shipping in and out. Imported skis and ski bindings from Europe. Such fun. Did all the banking transactions too. Letters of credit, foreign currency stuff learned so much. Along the way after 23 years divorced Doug Dickerson and was single for the first time in my adult life. Never had a chance before to have fun. As a single adult. And I did have a lot of it. Traveled some, went to Europe on business a couple of times, went to Las Vegas to the ski show a couple of years. And for heaven sakes let me not forget. The 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid. Elan rented a store there and made it into the World headquarters for Elan Skis. Such a great time to be on the inside of the Olympics. Such an experience. Met the Swedish guy who won the gold cup for the slalom ski race. He personally signed a poster for me. How great can it be!!!! There was some work to be done too but who remembers...Expand for more
that. Later in the 80's I met my 2nd husband. We lived together for a few years then moved to Florida. He died there in 1995. He was a great person just not too healthy. After his death I moved to Atlanta where one of my daughters lives. She had a young daughter and I helped her out for a while. Then I found a great job working for a really big company. I worked in Corporate Accounting. Loved living in Atlanta. Had the greatest boss too. In 1998 the company moved their accounting dept to Denver and were willing to transfer anyone who would go. Such an adventure. I was off again. To Denver this time. Actually moved to Lone Tree. South of Denver and next door to Littleton, if you remember that school mess there. Worked in Engleton, just a stone's throw away. After 2 year's out there and too many changes to tolerate I decided I'd had enough. I did the unthinkable. Walk in one day and walked right out again. Too old for that s..t any more. Good pay just didn't cut it anymore. So after a month in California with another daughter, Kathy, I drove home to Vermont. And here I sit. Fully retired now. Lazied around for a while but now have my energy back. And want to go places and do things again. My latest craze is this internet. Have young friends all over the world. Mostly students. And all guys. Young men in China, Egypt, India, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana, Morraco, UK. They are the greatest. Of course a few scammers too. Must be very careful. But most are a delight. Most send pictures. I have some great ones of the Nile and the pyramids.
