Anne's Story

I am currently still employed in management . My immediate project is transforming my front porch area into a courtyard, lots of landscaping and hard work. We have finished a flagstone sidewalk , rock pillars as a entrance --- focal point is a semicircular flower bed with a fountain in the center. I don't know if we will ever finish, I keep adding more to do!!ha ha Whenever we are not working on that I usually spend time with one of my new grandchildren--Landon 3mos. or Jaydin 8 mos. Of course we are planning a vacation for the summer. Not sure where we want to go, maybe Costa Rico or Jamaica--Niagra Falls??? I enjoy staying busy with something other than just regular work. I like creating something and hobbies that inspire me to think. My three pets are Festus, Marshall Dillion and Fedo. We did have a MS Kitty but she disappeared. I love my cats and we almost had a Gunsmoke crew!!!!! Just chilling out, a glass of something to drink and focusing on what is only in my life, not everyone elses If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have good nights sleep, organization, and not rushed to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My Mom and Dad were simply the best, they had such character and taught me to value things that were not material. They had little education but were very intelligent, took pride in their work managing a business. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Debbie Tucker, because my best friend in school. When two parents don't agree on teaching their children to grow up on their own and work for it, they have a harder time becoming independent. The road is harder for them. One reason for my divorce after 31 years. Money can be an enabler for dependence. My best friend would tell you I'm serious, direct , and don't take much off of people , but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as dependable, hard working, particular and not very approachable. I still like anything from rags to riches in clothing, it could be my oldest most worn pair of jeans and a t-shirt or something very simple and classy, most likely white; since that is my favorite color. My clothes are hung in the closet by color and brand, does that tell you anything--haha. A little OCD Currently I have been in management for 15 years, I never saw that in my career, but it is a good job with opportunities. I still maintain my nursing license and continuing education credits. I haven't eliminated the possibility of going back to it part time when I retire and add to the degree. I do love the science of the medical field . I share my home with Larry, which I find peaceful, since he is laid back and pretty agreeable on everything, but at the same time we have so many things in common that it scary. We do so many interesting things, one thing he is not --boring. I wonder. Where have you been all my life!!!. In 10 years, I hope to be working part time, doing more traveling, spending more time with family, some charity work, creating new interests, organizing my photo albums, enjoying my home and ki...Expand for more
cking back some. I'm going to get there by doing my best to manage my finances, yet live, love and laugh along the way. My first job was at the Dog House when I was 14 years old, where I got paid tips and too small to mention amount of money to waitress tables and car hop serving food at the teen hang out at the time.. What I remember most about it is when an ex boyfriend kept blowing his car horn after I had already had waited on him. He reordered and changed his mind after I brought the drinks back out to him and honked the horn again. I dumped the drinks into the car and paid for them myself!!! Now we would call that harassment, then it was just anxiety we had to endure. I've come a long way, not a chance now--pretty headstrong. Which memory would it be, the fearful ones or the ones where you remembered how your granny would give you food when they didn't have it and had to be kept a secret from grandpa. The fearful one--once we were on a picnic and I was playing on a pile of gravel away from our area, I saw our car leaving and thought I had been left behind. I started walking down a dirt road and had no idea how to get home. I was crying and a car came along and asked me who I was. I told them and they picked me up, took me home--they knew my father since he was a well known business person. I was terrified.I had not been left-my mother was still there. Imagine that today-- On the other hand I had a very stingy grandfather--although they had very little, my grannie would sneak food to us-special things like candy etc. that she would buy with her check. Super good things were that my parents never fought and we were taught to appreciate what we had, my parents always spent time with us and we did simple things-picnics,having friends over, bunking parties (playing records-playing limbo)visiting my grandma, going to church. I was the tomboy and in the summer tagged after my dad on tv repair service calls and even wrote out the tickets including taxes--wow I didn't think anything about it then. I don't think kids would take to that now. My pay was maybe a milkshake or hamburger and that WAS a treat cause we didn't eat out at all!! --hey I cleaned car parts with a paint brush and a pan of gas or putty knife, Since my dad was a multi tasker he also did foreign car repair. Our treat was walking to the local river for a swim--barefoot on hot asphalt. We would swim across the river to the BIG rock to jump off of, by the way--we had no adult supervision or life jacket, didn't own one.Oh well I turned out quite well, which proves you can make the right choices and it doesn't take money, just the right moves in life. Obey the laws, opportunity is available--no drugs or alcohol, just a little hard work and honesty...Oh lots of picking up rocks out of the garden if we fussed with each other- the easy things were all the bushels of corn, peas and butter beans we had to husk or shell, no going to the river till it was done. Now teenagers think they should have a new car at 16 if their parents have one...I see a problem with that..
