Anne's Story

Life After celebrating our 30th reunion on July 15th, I thought maybe I should put something in my profile. I raised a son, mostly on my own with some help from my family, of course. He has turned out to be one great person. A wonderful husband and father with a sense of responsibility. He and his wife have given me two beautiful grand babies that are the light of my life. I spent 39 years as a single person and 18 of that as a single mom. I met someone who also was never married and at the time thought he had no children. We were together 5 years before we decided to get married. (I was ready from the beginning, he wasn't so I never pushed the issue.) Three months before we got married, Neil, my husband, found out he was a father of a 26 year old woman who was married with 2 boys. Marrying, a father and a grandfather in a matter of a couple months, WOW!!!! Since their initial conversation, they have really connected and their is true love between them. She has no hard feelings and is just thrilled to have found her dad! What a wonderful blessing. Since then, they have given us one more grandson, Dylan 19 months. The other two are Christopher 6 and Lakein 5. They all live in New Mexico and we see them once a year. My son, Josh, and his wife, Eliza have blessed us with a granddaughter, Indiana 3 and Riley 19 months. They live here in San Antonio, Texas near us. I look forward to my baby fixes at least once a week. We live on a 3/4 acre piece of land with our 2 dogs, Hayley and Willie and 1 cat, Buzz. Lots of mesquite trees for the very, very short winters. Lets say our fireplace doesn't get too dirty in the winter here. I work for an insurance company and have for 11 years. My husband drives a read...Expand for more
y mix truck and puts in many hours thanks to all the construction happening here in San Antonio. I was very involved in music and drama at Nogales and continue singing at church mostly. I sing weddings every once in awhile. I would love to get involved with theater again but never find the time. Someday soon!!!! I am the oldest of 7 and finally one of them is moving out here to be with us. I originally moved here because my brother was in the Army stationed at Fort Sam Houston and he and his wife, said come here and live with us. The cost of living is so much less than California and maybe things will be easier for me. I did and then he gets out of the Army and moves back to the west coast. Oh well...... My sister, Ellen, is moving at the end of July or first part of August. We are all looking forward to her coming. She is an elementary school teacher and with the growth here, teachers are needed desperately. I really enjoyed the reunion although there were some who had no idea who I was!!! I guess they didn't see many of the plays we put on. Mother Abbess in Sound of Music!!!! My infamous role. Okay, maybe not so infamous. I have had some health issues in the past, including a heart attack in 1998 but am now healthier than I have been in years. With the blessings bestowed on all of us by our Creator, modern medicine is fantastic and only looks like it will improve. I wish that half the stuff out there was available for my parents. We lost our mom in 1994 of congestive heart failure and our dad in 1998 of pancreatic cancer. Their love sustains us all through how we raise our own children. Thank God, we had discipline in our lives!! Anyway, LIFE IS GREAT, FAMILY IS EVERYTHING, AND LOVE LIVES ON!!!!!!
