Anne/Angi's Story

Life Lots of water under the bridge since leaving Columbus AFB in the summer of 1962. I spent a year at Ben Guerir AFB, Morocco, living in the dorms at Nouasseur AFB during the week to attend school. After they closed the bases in Morocco we spent a year in Spokane, Washington or more accuratey Fairchild AFB near Medical Lake, WA where I graduated from Medical Lake HS the night before moving to Carthage TX. My dad retired from the Air Force the same day that I graduated and we set out for Mississippi just hours after graduation in order to get back to Starkville, MS for my brother Grady's graduation from MS State. I attended Ayers School of Business in Shreveport LA, worked as a bookkeeper for a couple of years then got married & had a daughter Tracee Marie in 1968. She now owns a nuisance trapping business in Pueblo, CO. I got divorced in 1969. That whole Viet Nam era thing ya know. I remarried in 1972, had another child that same year, a son who sadly didn't survive but a few moments. Exactly one year to the day later I had another daughter Jessica Reed in 1973, she is Manager of Field Lab Services for Aspen Dental Labs living in Syracuse, NY, another son was born in 1974 but again, sadly did not survive. I had another daughter Amy Avis in 1976. She is a pharmacy technician at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Cornwall, Ontario is married to wonderful Stephane and another daughter Kelly Patricia followed in 1977. She is a PFC, petroleum supply specialist, in the US Army stationed just retuned from Iraq to Ft. Wainwright AK., divorced from not so wonderful David. I started nursing school at Kilgore College, Kilgore, TX when Kelly was 9 months old, graduating in 1980 and became an RN. In 1981 I finally got that son, Stefan Karol, and after many months of touch and go he came out of the tunnel alive and well and is now married to our lovely little Lisa and working as rough neck off shore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. One would never know he had such a rocky start in life. Now I am the proud grandmother of 4 granddaughters Kandy Maree, a stay at home mom, Lindsey Erin, a Pvt. in the Army (Tracee's girls) & Allison Therese, our lit...Expand for more
tle princess & future oympic gymnastic gold medalist and one grandson Christian Reed, karate man & future Rock star and tiny little Kaylin Isabelle (Amy's kids). I am also the proud great-grandmother of future ladies man Leone Tomas Lindsey's only child and adorable Maddison Susan, Kandy's only child. You must realize of course that I started having my children when I was five in order for me to be a great-grandmother already. LOL :) God has blessed me well. I am retired from a long, satisfying career in nursing beginning in Newborn ICU, Labor & Delivery, Pediatric ICU, Childbirth education, then on to geriatrics, CCU/ICU and finally in nursing administration and Hospice. I have followed the cycle of life. I still keep my toes in the water by picking up a shift or two at the hospital from time to time when they need help. My husband of nearly 37 years, Walt, retired from ALCOA on February 1, 2007 after 42 years 7 months and I'm sure he can probably tell you how many days, hours, minutes and seconds, (he keeps track of those inane numbers) but I've lost count. Now that we're both retired we hope to do a lot of traveling and with children spread out all over the US & Canada, we have plenty of places to visit. We will continue to have our primary residence here in Massena, NY but hope at some point to find a home we want to buy in LA or TX an area some of you will recognize as the ARK-LA-TEX and become snow birds. The sub-zero winters here in northern NY are beginning to get a little hard on the old bones. Some of you may remember my two brothers Grady & Stacia. Grady is now retired from the Air Force after a long career as a pilot as well as several other positions in the air line industry after that and is living in NM and doing the Winnabago thing. Stacia passed away in November 1977 at the age of 30 following several years of ill health. Grady had 2 sons Glynn & Scott, one grandson Thomas and a granddaughter Grace. Stacia had one daughter Joanna who was 3 when he passed away. Hope to hear from some of you guys out there. As many of know from growing up in the miitary, it's far too easy to lose touch with old friends.
