Anne C. Adams's Story
I went to Ashland Elementary in Lexington, Ky, for 3rd through 6th grade, then Lexington Junior High, then started as a sophomore at Henry Clay High School before moving with my family to Arlington, Virginia, where I started mid-year at Yorktown High School. After graduating I went to the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, majoring in English/creative writing with a minor in art. After college I spent a summer working in Greensboro, NC, then returned to my parents' home in Arlington and started waiting tables, then added a part-time job at a local newspaper. e years producing live radio programs for the Diane Rehm Show, based at the Washington, DC, affiliate of NPR owned by American University. In 2007 I left DC to attend a year-long program at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Md. I met my now-husband in Baltimore in the spring of 2008 and we married in 2009. I served as managing director of a local community choir from 2011 to 2018. Since 2019 I have been heavily involved in climate crisis activism and environmental justice advocacy as a volunteer.
