Anne's Story
I always thought I'd never move away from Cicero, but about 7 years after I got married, my husband, son and I moved to Westchester, and I thought we'd be there forever, too. After 18 years of marriage, my husband died unexpectedly, and I eventually re-married and ended up moving to Carol Stream. That marriage ended after about 11 years and now I'm here in Aurora, about 10 minutes away from my son and his family. Occasionally, I've gone back to the old neighborhoods or past homes for one reason or another, and while familiar, the places I lived and frequented as a kid and young adult are so different. The homes I lived in are changed, and many of the old neighbors and friends gone. I guess it's true what they say...you can't go back. Then again, I wouldn't really want to. I'm looking forward what the future has in store for me!

hy kid I was in grammar school is long gone. I've been at my job for 30+ years, which is somewhat unheard of these days, but I have wonderful colleagues and it's still interesting and challenging for me, and I'm always learning something new. I only wish I didn't have to commute downtown every day! I am looking forward to retiring in the next couple years, at which point, I can forget about that commute and the cost of that monthly ticket, too!
My sisters and brothers have all moved out of Illinois, and are all spread out. I've got a wonderful son and an amazing daughter-in-law and the most adorable grandkids anyone could want.
So while there has been loss and some disappointment along the way, all in all, I've been pretty fortunate to have had the relationships I've had and the friends and acquaintences that I've made along the way.
