Annette's Story
Life
I am Annette Carter Williams, a 1962 graduate of CCS. I am widowed and the mother of two daughters, Sherri and Machelle. I have five grandchildren, Brian, Karnesia, Shalegra, Lakeshia, and Kentavious. I am the proud great-grandmother of a very active 23 months old grand-daughter, Keynijah.
I am currently helping to take care of my age 96 soon to be age 97 year old mother. She can still be rather spry at times. When up to it she is still raking yards. She will be 97 on January 6, 2007, if it is God's will.
I am currently employed with the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia, as an accounting technician. I have been employed at the base for 20 years.
I am involved in my church at the local, district and conference levels. I have traveled extensively with the church to Quadrennial Conventions and General Conferences outside of Georgia as well as State Conventions. I am also involved with the NAACP and this has provided an opportunity to visit many cities that I would never have visited.
Involvement in my community is varied. I served on the Boys & Girls Cl...Expand for more
ub of Mitchell County Board of Directors and has served since its organization. I have just been elected to the Flint River Arts Council of Mitchell-Baker Counties. I am a member of the Les Douze Amies Civic Club of Camilla. I have just been elected to a second two-year term as president of the local NAACP Branch.
I love to meet new people. My travel has allowed me the opportunity to meet many new people and make new friends. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and make a difference in the lives of others.
I am grateful for life and most of all I am grateful for having an opportunity to accept the invitation to eternal life.
I am currently trying to collect the names of persons who lived in the Branchville Community and this has been an exciting and challenging adventure for me. At my church this year, each Sunday we remembered persons who made a difference in our community. These included the men, women and children. We remembered our teachers, bus drivers, farmers, midwives, parents, ministers, etc. We know that each individual was an asset in a different way.
