Annette's Story

Life What's new you ask? Let's start with what's old, me I'm getting there at least in age, however not in spirit mine is always young so I'd like to believe. I have been married twice, met my first husband while working at Boston (by the way I live in MA 31 years now)University Medical Center. I bought a house about an hour away from the Cape and we (my ex) and I lived there for eight years and then somehow or other we managed to get married (these spur of the moment impulses absolutely amaze me). We were married for seven year when he decided to move on. The dogs at that time (3) and I held the door open for him and wished him well on his continued journey. I later married a wonderful man that did some work for me at the same house now labeled our home. In and around these years I worked for Tufts New England Medical Center, and became a whistle blower after a few years there and then I was out of a job. Used some of my skills to start my business (it was either work or starve) and named it ASP Associates, Inc. It is a medical billing agency. My husband better known in the roofing industry as "Tarbaby" now works with me and he now outshines me as a biller, I am hanging my head in shame. We have a good life and our dog "Moe" seems to run it well for us, he's a cross between a Jack Russell and a Beagle. I managed to become a great grandmother and I didn't have any children, how you ask? My hu...Expand for more
sband has 5 children and they had children who also had children. Update: August 26, 2006 2005 was not one of my greatest years, my brother Ernie (Sonny) passed away on 09/15/2005 and I brought my mother (95) to our home to take care of her, Alzheimer's, bedridden and under Hospice Care. My brother Jerry (I moved him here to be with us), my husband Haybert, Moe and I enjoyed taking care of her, she was a pure joy. If you told her you loved her, her eyes would sparkle, and with a smile she would respond in her weak little voice "I love you too". She passed on November 14, 2005. On Dec.22, 2005 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (two tumors, one in each breast, both different). Didn't rush into treatment. Did a lot of research on the internet, altered my diet (Organics, etc.) and started on alternatives. Had a brief course of chemo. refused surgery and radiation. God is leading, guiding and directing me on my journey and my oncologist is hanging in there with me (I do take one of the pills he recommended.) He told me that he knows I am crazy but to keep doing what I am doing. Wish I had come to some of our reunions, but somehow I was always wrapped up in work, I think I am on call just as much as the MD's are that I bill for. This part of my life is winding down and I find more time to smell the roses. I have always tried to be at our reunions in spirit if not physically.
