"Anselmo, (Ace) -- Like most of us identified fondly of with my High School experiences for some time after Graduation, now it’s been 58 years ago. YUP 58 years ago. -- Remember thinking 50 years past while in High School was the 1910’s, and how much had happened in that time-frame 1910’s-1960’s. My Father was born 1918. -- Well think the Kids in High School today, think of the last 58 years in the same way of what my classmates have gone through 1965 thru 2018. -- They must wonder how much they too missed: One has only to think that, the only High Schools were only, CVUHS, Indio HS, Kaiser HS, and Palm Springs HS, in the Valley. -- Today hear there are 9- 12 sprinkled around the Desert. California high school that faced mounting pressure to change its team name, mascot and other imagery and traditions that many Arab-Americans deemed offensive has agreed to a compromise, school officials announced on Friday. The Coachella Valley High School Arabs will now be known as the Mighty Arabs, after the school district’s board of trustees voted 5-0 on Tuesday to amend the school’s team name. They also agreed to change CVHS’ Arab mascot to look less barbaric and more distinguished. -- There had not been the Landing on the Moon, nor a Super Bowl or a PC Computer, nor CD’s, DVD’s, Color TV was just starting, can still here the jingle Wow I got color TV RCA color TV, we had 16 transistor radios. There still was no Godfather Movies or Star war -- Cell phones were in some guys shoe, Agent Smart, years away from us. -- Now with more computer power that what was used to land man on the moon. -- And we would all end up knowing someone who died in Vietnam. -- The sad part of it is the losing of friends whom started passing as soon as we Graduate, as you count the years there are that many classmates whom have passed or more most who you might not know they had passed. -- As the years passed so have the memories of those High School days which were so important in helping us prepare for the future we have lived through. -- After 58 years sorry to report all those great friends you knew will fade into the shadows of your mind when you sometimes see them you are surprised that you had forgotten them who were such a big part of your lives. -- I remember, playing Football for the State Championship, and lending my car to the Cheering Squad for Half Time and Homecoming Parade. -- The school colors, had my 57 FORD Convertible painted in school colors by Eddy Luna The Mascot.
