Antonette's Story
What a year so far for 2017. It has been a year of fifties... My son came to visit us while we were camping. He brought with him our anniversary present...a new puppy. A brown beautiful Dachshund. Bill and I celebrated our 50th Anniversary on June 23. My daughter Loria Hall and son Joe Benham threw us an anniversary party. Lots of people and lots of great food. On June 28th we left for our first trip ever to Hawaii... We are going back. We seen a lot and have a lot more to see. Bill's mom was raised in the Eva Beach area on a plantation and even though we learned a lot, we have a lot more to learn.
After we came back from Hawaii I had two weeks to finalize everything I needed for our 50th class reunion. Done and what a wonderful weekend that was. From Friday late morning to Sunday afternoon... I slept for two days. It really was a great weekend.
By Friday that week after the reunion, we didn't know if our puppy would live. She got bit 7 times from a brown recluse spider and almost lost her twice. One big surgery left a scar down her body with a hole in the ear an she lost the last 1/2 inch of her tail. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU WE DON'T HAVE THEM HERE. We do. Breeding season is August through October. Females hide and the males are very mean and aggressive.
I retired from Department of Transportation on September 30, 2011 with 20 + years at the State of Washington. After too many surgeries for shoulders, neck, back, and carpal tunnel on both wrists...my body said I am done. BUT...who said life slowed down after retirement? It doesn't. I have been so busy I don't know how I worked at all.
I have done a lot of traveling with my mom and hubby. Places I have been are:
Norway, Budapest to Amsterdam, Eire Canel (Massachusetts to New York) through the Great Lakes and 1000 Islands, Montreal and th...Expand for more
en Quebec),,, two trips down the Mexican Rivera, two trips on the Columbia River... a cruise to Alaska and for a retirement gift, a Quacker Factory Cruise to the Bahamas on the Oasis of the Sea....all I can say about that is WOW. Owner's suite; over 600 sq. ft. plus a 200 sq. ft. balcony, concierge service, talk about being spoiled.
We have our motor home and spend time away when ever possible. Mom would travel with us until the last two years... She was in the Panorama Convalescent Center. She went to Heaven on Christmas 2016. I guess she didn't want me to forget... As if I would. Loved her help on the reunion mailings. And all the trips to help her but seen a lot of the world. Remember when I said "why would anyone travel any other way but a cruise", I must have been sick. I love cruising, but I love the motor home too.
Loria now lives in West Olympia and nice to have her so close now. Loria gave us a granddaughter Angelisa who married Carlos Amezquita who gave us our first great grandson Carlos, 8. Loria also blessed us with her new partner Angela who brought with her her daughter Madesyn, 17. They decided to start in the foster parent program. They adopted one and soon 4 more. That adds Austin and soon Jax, Gage, Graydin, and Jace. Our son Joe live on South hill Puyallup. He gave us 5 granddaughters. Madison, 25, Breanna 21, Morgen 19, Tayler 10 and Brooke 6. To say the least I think we are blessed.
We have three fur babies, Prince Fredrick our 14 year old double dapple dachshund with blue eyes, Jack our 5 year old Havachin (half Havencee and Japanese Chin), and our baby 7 month old Princess a dachshund/pomeranian mix. She has the legs of a pom and the rest is all dachshund even the yapping,
As you can tell life has been good and busy for us. Looking forward to the rest of our golden years.
