April's Story
Hi everyone!
A lot has changed since I went to Central HS. I lost a few pounds, and I'm much more outgoing now. I went to Angelina College and received an Associates Degree in Communication. While at AC, I was the associate editor of the newspaper and the editor of the magazine. I was also inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and served one year as an officer. I transferred to SFA in the Fall of 2001, and I graduated on May 14, 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in journalism with a minor (almost double major) in English literature. I worked at The Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches for 4 years as a reporter and then went to the Jacksonville paper as the c...Expand for more
ity-beat reporter. I was promoted to assistant editor after six months and later served as interim editor for a month. While there, with my police beat experience from Nac., I helped the city clean up its police department. There was a lot of corruption. City officials wanted me to be editor of the paper, but I declined.
I took a job at the Longview paper and became a page designer/copy editor! I've been here a year. While working in a non-writing position ... I'm working on personal writing projects. Screenwriting is my main focus. I was in the Austin Film Festival in 2005 and plan to be involved again.
And that sums things up. I'm a writer.
