April's Story

First, I find it interesting that so many of us, (me included) hit the big 6-0 and start wondering about our high school acquaintances. Is it because we now appreciate that time? Is it now because we realize that was the last time we didn't have to be seriously responsible and carefree? Is it because some time after we pass that halfway point in our existence, we realize there was so much opportunity in front of us and we were healthy enough to take advantage of every one? Someone needs to analyze the recurring dream I have of being at my locker and not remembering the combination, or not knowing what or where my next class is. For me, I occasionally have the opportunity to reminisce with my younger co-workers. Just the other day, someone asked me if we were allowed to wear pants to school. My immediate response was "no", but then I backtracked and told her about stretch pants with stirrups, and our "uniform" for football games which included black stirrup pants, Beatle boots and surfer shirts. OMG! My life has been good, not particularly eventful, which is perfectly okay, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter i.e. retirement in a little over 18 months and the multitude of things I want to do. Not having drama in my life is a blessing (had enough of that in my 20s) and I tend to be like my parents and be a home b...Expand for more
ody, enjoying gardening and peace and quiet. I know that will change somewhat when I retire and tackle that bucket list. Quick synopsis . . . moved from Bremerton to Port Orchard, to Mission Lake (where we built our dream home) to Tenino (to eliminate a long commute after a promotion/transfer). I've worked for the state for 19 years, and before that, at Keyport, in the private sector, and took a couple of years off in the middle to care for my dad, who lived with us for 8 years after my mother had a stroke and was in a nursing home. Had two kids with my first husband, Mike Seay, who many of you may remember. Scot turns 45 this week, has 3 kids (21, 17, 16) and lives about 20 minutes away. Renee is 43, has two kids (18, 14) and has lived in Virginia the past 17 years. Married another "Michael" who goes by Mick, 29 years ago, and acquired 4 more boys as step-children. They've given me 3 more grandsons. After retirement, we plan to move to the east coast for a new experience. Not only to be near Renee, but also NASCAR, which some may find strange, but others not so much. If you remember me well, you know I always had an interest in cars and going fast. :-0 Poor AC Sauce Car. :-( Bottom line: Life has been good to me and I look forward to the future with excitement as I tackle new interests and renew old ones.
