April's Story
After graduation, I went to work full time. In 1963, married Rod Jackson (SGHS alum). In 1965, had my daughter, January. Stayed home for almost three years, then returned to the work world. I worked at Firestone Tire & Purex, both local companies. In 1969 I went to work for a metals company and have been in that industry since. In 1971, my husband died, so I was a single mom and worked for about five years. Mostly I've done clerical & secretarial work, but have also been an Administrative Manager, National Sales Manager and National Administrative Manager. aw, and eventually nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. I cut back to part time work in 2003 and now work only one day a week in the office and a few hours from home. I like that over 40 hours any day.
I've lived in South Gate, Cypress and now Murrieta for the last three years. I'm pretty much a Southern California girl. Have traveled some - Paris, France, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Milwaukee, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona & northern Calif.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I've worked on all our Reunion Committees and that has been great fun too. Hoping for a long and healthy retirement life. Best wishes to all. April
