Argyle's Story
Life
Upon graduation from NHHS I attended Central Missouri State University graduating in 1967. While at CMSU I played football and rugby and was active in student government.
In May of '67 I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. On 2/19/68 I reported to Officer Candidate School and was commissioned on 5/1/68. I served in Vietnam '69-'70. I then served at Camp Pendleton, CA as the CO of a 354 Marine Company until 7/71 when I was discharged.
I started a new career as a teacher and Director of Physical Education and Athletics for a school district in the San Diego area. On 1/1/74 I was recalled to active duty by the Marine Corps to restart a ROTC program on the Navajo Reservation, 89 miles north of Flagstaff, AZ.
I spent the remainder of my Marine Corps career at bases around the world in various assignments. I retired on July 1, 1988. It was the greatest job I could have ever had.
Since retiring from the Marine Corps, I have been with four Fortune 500 companies serving in executive positions. I have primarily served in the area of supply chain/logistics management within these companies. I am currently the Director of Global Aerospace ...Expand for more
and Airline Services for a worldwide 3rd Party Logistics company. With these positions I travel globally a significant amount of the time.
During the course of my life I've enjoyed a number of hobbies which included; aircraft pilot, dive master and football official. As time has gone on I've grown too old and out of shape to continue them. My wife convinced me that it would be better to see my children grow-up than continue to make hard landings, I confine my diving to the shallow end of the swimming pool. My granddaughter and I watch football on TV and sleep.
My wife is Carolyn and we have three children; Scott (43), Rebecca (36) and Bonnie (33). I also am a grandparent to 6 . My wife, Carolyn, passed away on 10/17/03 after 26 years of marriage.
I remarried in August 2008 to Colleen Burguess and gained another 3 kids. She saved my life in June of 2010 by making me go to the doctor due to chest pains. After two weeks in the hospital my heart was repaired. The picture is of Colleen and I with my grandchildren.
My memories of NHHS seem to be getting clearer, a sure sign of old age. If you're in the area come by and see us, you all !!!!!
