Arlene's Story

Life I have had many pets, but none at this time. My only daughter graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington 7 years ago. Her degree is in Communications and was an editor on a small paper in Mt. Vernon, Washington until two years ago when she went to Bulgaria with the Peace Corp. She just got back a few weeks ago. She now wants to go back to get her teaching degree so she can teach Communications in a College in Washington State . She did teach part-time at a local college in Seattle. She loved it so much that she decided to get out of the trenches and teach. That had been her original idea when she started college. I can't believe that she will be 29 next month. She is almost my age! ;-) Oh; just forget that. It is an old joke that our Mother used to say to us. She started increasing her age when all four of us passed her.;-) Our Mother told me yesterday that our youngest sister, Kay, will be 55 on her next birthday. She said that all of her children will then be Senior Citizens! That gave us both a big laugh. I hope when I pass her age again that I look that good. I know so many of our classmates knew our Mother and she asks about you often. If you would see her, you would know her. She really has done well in the aging department. I sure hope that I got her genes. I gave up my chopper a few years ago after having a three level fusion in my neck. I did keep the leathers. That neck fusion and the next neck fusion retired me. I didn't intend to stop working until about this time, so I guess I am right on time now.;-) I am still in Sacramento, but I found a two story Craftsmen style home one block from my Mother. My brother, Johnny, and his family live there also.It is time to be closer to our Mother. Later, if I can't take the slower pace, I can move back. Right now, this is the right choice. e closer to my brother, Johnny. He and his wife, Stevie, have three daughters. Their oldest daughter, Johnie Lynn, has five children. The second daughter, Jamie, has one on the way. Their youngest, Jessie, is engaged but wants a long engagement. They feel that they are too young now. They are another reason to be happy about my move. I haven't been around them enough to see them really grow up. Now, I can at least see the grandchildren grow up. Johnny and Stevie have a lot to be proud of but to talk to Johnny, he would never allow himself to show pride. He gets caught, though, with his cute little grin. Stevie, which is her nickname for Stephanie, is an ordained minister. Shortly after they were married, they quit their jobs and moved to this small town in Missouri. Johnny went back to school there. Stevie started a Mission on the main street of town. Thanksgiving and Christmas every year is spent cooking a full dinner for anyone that needs or wants to come. Johnny has been Santa Claus delivering gifts on Christmas Eve to the needy. They have services on Sunday. Stevie has branched out now and goes to two private homes twice a week for Bible study. Recently, the police came to their door late one night. A man had been taken from another town to Pierce City. He was beaten, robbed and just left there. Johnny drove him to Joplin where they had facilities to help this man. Can you tell that I am very proud of my big brother and his wife?;-) OK! Where is everyone? Pets? Kids? Chopper and leathers? Arlene Letterman Vernon 7/29/06 New update! My daughter, Elizabeth, is getting married August 26th. January of 2006, she did go back to school to get her master's degree in communication. She will have her degree by the end of this year. This is a very busy year for her. In just one month I will be on my way to Seattle for her wedding.
