Arlene's Story
Life
Hi. I am Arlene Mack, now Arlene Mack Fedgo. After high school I moved to Miami where I studied psychology and teaching emotionally disturbed children. While getting ready to transfer to University of South Florida, my plans changed and I married my first husband, who was a doctor and a resident in general surgery. Because of his career, we moved to Northport, NY and left Miami behind. After four years, I left my husband, although we stayed in touch for a long time, and remained friends. According to my husband, the stressors in becoming a surgeon made him unable to be the husband he had hoped to be. As I said, we parted friends and to this day wish each other well.
I was very fortunate in being hired to be a Flight Attendant for United Airlines, back when it was so difficult to get that job and back when the skies were friendly. one could only dream about.I also was a writer/reporter for a United Airlines Flight Attendant newspaper. I was employed with UAL almost 25 years.
When I was 37, I did remarry, a United Airlines Captain, and we lived in Chicago, Evergreen,Colorado, and then back to New York (Setauket) At the age of 45, I was blessed to give birth to our son, who is now 24 and a graduate in Finance from Michigan State University . I have an abundant love for animals, especially dogs.
Changing careers at 46 years old, from flying around the world and our country, to changing diapers…..
Being back to living on Long Island has been a walk down memory lane and fun. I would love to hear from anyone who was in my class of 71, or others!
Now, my child grown, I am retired and sort of quietly living on LI. I read constantly, attend music concerts still, my favorite oldies ( Kenny Loggins, Jackson Brown, Eagles, Pink) and new artists ( Ed Sheeran, Home Free, Keith Urban and more) I still love animals!
