Arnold's Story

Hello friends, After graduating high school, I attended the Stevens Institute of Technology and in 1973 received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Mathematics. Intending to obtain a phd in physics, I subsequently began graduate studies at Cornell University. But I found that I did not quite have the ability to achieve my goal there, so in 1975 I left school for the business world. I enterred the actuarial profession. In February of 1976 I found employment with Buck Consultants in New York City, where I was to work until my retirement in September of 2004. Buck is a firm that provides actuarial and other services to large private and public pension plans. At Buck I became a senior consultant in 1985 and ultimately ran a small department that did funding and investment policy work for our clients. Overall I enjoyed my career, but as for most jobs it was often tedious and very often pressure packed. I'm happy I'm retired. As for my personal life, some of you may remember that during high school I was very shy socially when out of the classroom. I began to emerge from my shell (well sort of) during my college years. In 1971 I met my wife to be, Davida, and we were married in 1978. Davida and I have been married, through thick and thin, until the present day. We have two daughters. n in 1983, obtained her Bachelor's degree from DePaul University in 2004, and currently lives in San Meteo, California where she has an apartment, a car, a boyfriend and a job. Life is good for Adena. The youngest, Arielle, was born in 1990, and is about to commence her college education at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut. My wife Davida (who hails from Los Angeles and obtained her college degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City) and I lived in Manhattan until 1981. Then we settled in our current home in Old Bridge New Jersey. We live in the Lakeridge section of Old Bridge, which some of you may know, right on the border of Old Bridge and Matawan. My parents, who are still alive, and my brothers (Howard, Robert, Scott, and David) and sister Jody all have moved out of Hazlet now. But I still go back on occasion to ride through the streets remembering with great fondness my days growing up there with all my friends and former schoolmates. Now that I'm retired I spend the time (that I'm not engaged with family or friends) reading, websurfing, walking, swimming or listenting to music. Recently I've had some health problems but, with the kids soon out of the house , I still hope to spend more time in the future traveling. Hope to see many of you at the reunion in August. Arnold
