Art's Story
Life
I've got three kids, am married to a
violinist, taught for 35 years, then retired. I sing every chance I get, in church
choir, barbershopping and musical shows. I also volunteer for a literacy agency for adults, and as a librarian in a township library. I've begun making specialty furniture and am building a workshop in my garage, to eliminate copious sawdust, etc.
College
Paralling teaching, I took my BA at night, on weekends and in the summer. This made for loads of long nights. For...Expand for more
my Vocal Music, Supervisor's level, I spent 3 summers in Toronto bucking the heat. The most memorable thing there was working under Dr. David Octerlony, Principal of the Royal Conservatory, and acting in the Mikado. At Algoma University, we saw a tiny college grow and mature into an intimate learning experience, including bringing pub night pizza & beer jugs (full) back to English Class at night. Acting methods courses had us also building sets and developing props, for our own plays. Great stuff!
