Art's Story
Life
At 57 years of age I truly have accomplished more than I thought--health problems, undergraduate and graduate education, etc. Lots of problems with drugs and alcohol out of scool and univeristy! Have been in recovery for about 30 years. Worked for Fortune 100 corporations - a stint with a design firm - and now in academe (University) for almost twenty years where I have been Exec. VP and now Associate VP of HR Programs for a university. Plan to retire in December of 2006 and hope to work part-time as consultant nationally and internationally or in the design bsuiness. Have a great home in the Silverlake area of L.A. Had a long term relationship with a partner who passed a few years ago and no life partner now. Love my work and my life and take it one day-at-a-time.
Got real involved as an activist nationally and locally in Los Angeles having served on the Board of Directors of National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the L. A. Center, the world's largest Gay and Lesbian Community Center. Also served and was a founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Community Fund, a part of the California Community Foundation. Have raised in excess of 2.3 million dollars for Gay and Lesbian causes across the nation.
Wish Everyone Well and Cheers to the Class of 1965; Have a great reunion. Don't know if I will be able to attend in September, but hope to hear from my friends at EMHS. Really enjoyed my high sch...Expand for more

College
After El Monte went to Mt SAC for a couple of years and then to Cal State Los Angeles where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Education. During this time was selected as a Congressional Intern working for Congressman Charles E. Wiggins who later became a judge on the Ninth Circuit. While in Washington I was a student at George Washington University. Decided to go to graduate school 'cause I didn't want to teach. Accepted at Columbia University, NY as a Sloan Fellow through COGME. In the business school, MBA program where my concentration was personnel management and organizational behavior. Then went to work for Coca-Cola.
