Art's Story

Hello ! Update Dec 2019 Wow, 7 years have passed since my last update! Hard to believe I turned 60 this year. I still work for MSC but moved to the Southern HQ here in beautiful Davidson NC. I have a condo right on Lake Norman and love the slower pace of life. I will always miss NJ though. In the final stages of fighting colon cancer and should be back to work in January. Diagnosed last Jan with stage 3, I had invasive chemo for 4 months, radiation for 6 weeks and then surgery on Oct 29 to remove the tumor. I have an all clear although I have to be screened for 5 years before I am cancer free. Had so much help from family and friends to get thru this! So 2020 should get off to a great start! My kids are doing well. My oldest daughter is an attorney in Washington DC, we had a destination wedding in Hawaii for her in 2015. My youngest daughter works giving grants to kids who cannot afford college. She works in DC too for the Gerald Ford Foundation. My son lives in Shanghai China with his girlfriend Reva. He works in HR for the the British consulate there and just retuned after spending 3 weeks helping me out after cancer surgery. So that’s where we are at. I miss my old friends from Belleville and Cato so feel free to reach out! Update Feb 2012: Its been 4 years since I wrote the below so I figure its time for an update! I left Philips Electronics and now work for MSC Industrial Supply way out in Long Island as a Merchandising Mgr. What a commute!!! But its a great job so won't complain...for now! I visited Belleville this past August....and visited with a couple friends there. A lot has changed but at the same time not all that much. I have also had my first attempt at writing published. It took 8 years to write but deals with my youth and time at Belleville. As some of my closest friends at Belleville knew, my family suffered terrible abuse at the hands of my father. It took 8 years but I finally finished this with the support of my brothers and sisters and fami...Expand for more
ly. While names are changed, locations and timelines are accurate. Some of you may even recognize some of the characters who went to school with me during that time. Its a story of how 4 young brothers and 2 sisters survived the worst in parents and went on to live normal lives. My pen name is Kinnon McArthur (pretty clever), and the book is titled "Something To Cry About". I also include how I ended up In East Syracuse and eventually Cato NY. if you are interested drop me a line, I'll send a free copy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lived in Belleville from 1968 to 1975. Went to School number 1, Miss Klein in 4th grade, Mr. Gabriel in 5th grade and Miss Williamson in 6th grade. Attended BJHS and had Mr. Hollis for Spanish and Mr Ciccone for Social Studies among other teachers. Went to BHS for one year from 74 to 75. Parents died the summer of 1975 and I moved to upstate New York. Finished high school at Cato Meridian in 77 but always missed Belleville and my friends. Went to community college along the way, joined the US Navy. In 1991 I moved back to New Jersey and have lived in Norwood ever since. I married and have 3 grown children, my oldest daughter just graduated from Dartmouth and will attend Georgetown Law this fall. My son and youngest daughter attend the U of Delaware. I work for a large Electronics company in marketing and have responsibility for developing controllers for the Wii, PS3 and 360. Its a fun job as I get to play games at work all day! My son and his friends love it as I get to bring home all the new cool stuff long before it was available in the market! If you remember me, feel free to send an email. I always held Belleville close in my heart. I have only visited twice since 1986 but plan to do so with my kids this summer! I usually visit Cato once a year as most of my family live in the Syracuse-Buffalo area! Take care! Art
