Arthur J's Story

Life My Wife... we met 2435 miles from high school, and after a tour in the Marine Corps and an faltering attempt at college, when my number three sister brought one of her girl friends home after school (and yes, I did rob the cradle) who, though reluctantly, would share with me what ever life would bring us. This marriage has lasted forty-five years and the story continues as each day starts a new chapter in the saga of... My Children... like their father, struggled to achieve in life and they, too, have succeeded (with greater success, I must add). My daughters each have married fine men and each have two wonderful children - but then don't all grandparents have wonderful grandchildren (hey, mine are cuter than yours!). My Profession... Intuitive, diagnostic, and imaginative evaluations of stocks and their potential for profit for my corporation and our clients are the fare of the day at WarChief Investments, Inc. Assets managed here are in superbly capabile hands. School When I graduated from high school I had experienced 48 permanent address changes; one year I attended four different schools. You can imagine what that did for my solid educational foundation, even today, I struggle to remember English rules and math rules as I try to correctly apply them in daily activities (one must always be cognizant of his image and surroundings). High school was a disaster because of this lack of fundamentals. It was not until my senior year that one teacher recognized some potential and reached out to salvage one drifting boy. Thank you, Marguerite McMahan; I wish I could express my gratitude to you face to face. I dated a few young ladies and to the dismay of some who whispered otherwise, they remained virtuous young ladies after we met and parted. And, thank you ladies, too, for some great times and fond memories. I would name you Karen, Vera, and Jean Ann, but it might embarrass you. (There were two ladies from other schools -Williamston and Perry-and they were great sports, too, for their part in my life). Speaking of sports, this was the only arena that I got to compete as an equal with my schoo...Expand for more
lmates, though I did have to deal with resident restrictions and academic probation before I could compete, successfully, too, I might add! College I tried Emmaus Bible School(they asked me to leave as I was wasting "God's" money), and Palomar Junior College-I quickly saw I was totally unprepared for this Higher Education thing, and quit. Maturing in the military, I saw a need for college if I wanted to get promoted with or ahead of my peers. I successfully attended Skagit Valley College and attended the Washington State Officer's Candidate School where I graduated Honor Graduate. After retiring from the Army, I attended Jacksonville State University and earned two degrees: a BS in Recreation Management and a BSEd in Language Arts. Military Some say to me, “"Thank your for serving our country."” To which I say, “"Thank you America for allowing me the privilege of serving you." It all started out in the Michigan National Guard during high school, after which I served in the US Marine Corps, the US Army and as an officer in the Army Reserve. I can truly say I never had a bad assignment. I met many great peopl, most of whom I look forward to seeing again, but very few I trust I never meet again. I have seen and enjoyed many lands and cultures - Saudi, Turk, Greek, Italian, Swiss, Austrian, French, Spanish, Danish, Swede, German, Korean and Japanese. Europe was wonderful to see and experience. World history came alive for me. To any young person contemplating entering the service, I say you cannot go wrong serving. It is a safe environment where you can find your footing in life. Just select the best career field you can get, one that interest you; at the end of that enlistment, evaluate that three year experience and then re-enlist for career education if you like that field or re-enlist for a job change to something that catches your fancy. Then consider those six years in its totality as to whether it is in your best interest in staying in or getting out. Always get as much college education as you can get, and save up as much money as you can save for advancing your education when you get out.
