Asa's Story
Life
After High school I attended college in Atlanta, Ga. At Morris Brown and majored in music education.Worked 30 years for the City of Atlanta and retired August 30,2004. I conduct a adult wind ensemble in the Douglas County area( Westside Winds) and composl music.
My non-profit 501c3 corporation which provides a forum for unpublished composers to have their music played for the public.Through this non profit I sponsor the community band which provides free public concerts, and in 08 will sponsor a program to provide private instrumental lessons...Expand for more
for African American high school music students in the Atlanta area. In recent years the band has become a jazz orchestra of 24 pieces and perform 3 to 4 shows a year in the Atlanta area. Our featured vocalist is Myrna Clayton who has performed in England, Euorpe, Asia, Africa and the United States. I have continued to arrange and compose music with several pieces being performed publicly,especially by the Alabama A&M University Wind Ensemble. Divorced with 2 adult daughters who have college educations and doing well on their own.
