Audrey's Story
After graduation, I moved to San Francisco with my mother. Became a data entry clerk, moved out on my own and eventually moved to Oregon for a change of pace. Acquired administrative assistant/clerical tools and used them to provide organization consultation to businesses.
Returned to California in 1986 and discovered the Pacific Islander community in 1993 while grieving my father's death. I have danced the hula and reimmersed myself in my Hawaiian and Samoan culture. Don't perform so much now, but still enjoy it.
I am currently the president of two Hawaiian organizations and the 1st vp of another. I sit on the board of several Pacific islander organization all basically for the perpetuation of our culture and advocacy of Pacific island indigenous peoples, particularly health and socio-economic issues.
Looking for work once again, but find myself with the possibility of becoming a small business owner, going back to school for nursing (which is what I wanted to do when I younger and thinner), and slowing down to breathe and consider the options.

Aloha,
A breast cancer warrior since 2012. My mother passed away in 2013 just short of her 80th birthday. I recently acquired a bachelor's degree and start a master's program in health administration in September. Went back to work last year and a bit angry that my body is not cooperating with what my mind remembers being able to do. The good thing is that I am very capable of delegating and asking for help. Continue to provide community volunteer service and all of it goes towards my degree. At this stage of the game, I will now have the alphabet soup behind my name to step up my game with legislators, corporations, and local government entities when I advocate for my community and support policy changes. Life is good. I am truly grateful.
I had hoped to join you for this year's reunion, however, my biggest event for the year is a scholarship lu'au for pacific islander women is on the same weekend. Please enjoy yourselves and laugh a lot. Post pictures, so that I can live vicariously through all of you.
Me kealoha pumehana (with warmest affection)
Audrey
