Avis's Story
After spending two summers at Marymount College (Upward Bound Program "68-69) and graduating from Dillard High in '69, I studied at Florida Memorial College in Miami, FL. I then went on to graduate from Barbizon Fashion School, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Then on to ICS of Scranton, PA. with a Fashion Merchandising/Fashion Design diploma. Later, I studied at Barbizon Fashion College in Denver, CO. James and I have lived in several other states including Oklahoma, and GA, where we now reside. We have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and four granddaughters. We have been married for 48 years. We are currently pastoring our church (God's Church) Jesus Is Lord Ministries in Lithonia, GA. I have been called to minister to the needs of women; and have thereby authored one inspirational romance novel "Betrayal In Paradise" and are currently working on another inspirational romance novel. sional background is in Retail Management, Property Management, Human Resources, and Fashion Design. I owned my own Fashion Design Company designing,marketing, and selling custom-made swim wear (Modest Apparel By Avis) for 10 years; and I also owned (Designs By Avis) designing, making, and selling Hats and Handbag sets. After suffering with a serious illness, I had to close my business. I have now been blessed to receive total healing by God, and are enjoying retirement, of course my family, and the church. My secondary profession has been modeling and acting. I have appeared in several commercials, one national billboard ad, two made for TV movies, one educational training film for the Am. Medical Assoc. and have worked as a Fashion Modeling Instructor/Fashion Show Coordinator for a talent agency in Tulsa, OK. I love the life God has blessed we with, and my desire is to spend eternity in heaven with my Creator. God's blessings be upon you all.
