BARRY's Story

I was born at a young age....a poor black child. Born on the bayou....Born on the bayou... Moved to Washington State after hurricane Camilla sunk our houseboat on Bayou Blue in the early 60's. My Daddy was Frank "Frenchy Ledet, and he ran the mill at D & R Cedar in Marysville for decades. He also became Governor of the Moose Lodge. He was a legend at both. My sweet Mother was a homemaker, and a fine woman who taught me compassion for people, and gave me my love for music and drama. I joined the Air Force after graduating, and left as an NCO and the Mess Sargent at the Nellis AFB hospital. I was rewarded for my service, and left to join the Ministry in a church in Las Vegas as Christian Education Coordinator. Well...that was short lived! I took any job I could find and it was washing dishes at the Aladdin Hotel. Then I found a job thru the Teamster Union on a loading dock, and I busted my ass. The Boss took notice and hired me permanently, and I worked my way up the old fashioned way. I left town twenty years later as an Executive Salesman, specializing in restaurant design and supply. The biggest hotel casinos were my friends and clients, and getting hotel rooms, show passes, meals at great restaurants, or gambling markers, were done with a phone call or signature. I was young and naive and really didn't yet con...Expand for more
nect the dots as to why mentioning my bosses name opened doors. The mob still ran Vegas then, and I met or knew most of the people portrayed in the movie Goodfellas! I can tell you some funny stories! It was a great time and era, and I was lucky to leave town with my hands clean. We came back in '92, and I settled in Arlington with my first wife and our two daughters. Our very bad marriage ended, and I swore I would never marry again.....until I met my second wife Sarah. She was an angel who sat at a stage side table, while I sang "Show and Tell", by Al Wilson. I asked her to dance with me, and it was love at first dance! We dated for three years, while she helped me heal from the first marriage. She put up with my anger and my hurt, and I found out that there really are "soul mates" out there. I never knew what it was like to be loved back, until my sweet Sarah Rae Ledet came into my life. We celebrate our ten year anniversary on June 26th! My motto is "I love my wife, and I love my wife"! We go to a lot of rock concerts together,{is Paul McCartney, Cher, Neil Diamond or Air Supply considered a rock concert?) and love Puerto Vallerta and Hawaii. Mostly, we stay home and enjoy the company of Sarah's three grown kids, and our our two children together...Prince the Doberman., and Louie the Beagle.Life is wonderful!
