Eugenia's Story
Life: Check out my PROFILE further down the page.
In 1956, I married Robert, a New Yorker raised on 36th St. and 10th Av. in Hell's Kitchen. When I first met him, he was a 2nd Lt. and had just received his navigator's wings. During the next 17 years, as an Air Force wife, I lived in 8 states, Spain, and Boliva, and even learned to speak a little Spanish.
In 1973, my husband retired as a Lt. Col., and we more or less settled in Chico, CA., to finish raising our five children, but could not resist dragging them, plus a German Shepherd, to Mexico City for a year (to test my
Spanish?) and then on 2 or 3 other exotic adventures during the next 12 years.
Once we moved from northern California to NJ in a truck and station wagon with four kids, three dogs, one cat, and hauling our little Arab mare in a horse trailer. Believe it or not, it was a great trip.
I have to believe that gypsy blood has always run in my veins :-) (and my late husband's), because after our kids were grown and money a little more available, he and I managed to travel all over Europe by car. My favorite haunt is Venice, Italy, and I, like Gustav Von Aschenbach in Thomas Mann's "Death in Venice," would not be terribly disappointed if I were to die in Venice, Italy. Now if I could only learn to speak a little Italian. :-0 !!

ou may remember, if you remember me at all, (be kind and say that you do) I was painfully skinny in high school, certainly not a "sweater-girl," but these past five years, I'm looking more and more like a fat pear.
Since 1973, I've been an antiques dealer in Chico, CA, and have a house full of someone else's "junk/treasures". During these same years, my husband and I opened and operated a Mediterranean restaurant for seven years.
Trust me, don't go into the restaurant business.
As to date, I have accumulated seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and have written two novels. I believe that Mrs. Tittle would be proud of my efforts to be an author. But I find more satisfaction in the writing & editing process than in publishing my works. :-) That's my excuse for all of the rejection slips I've received. Perhaps, in the future, literary fans will seek my autograph, but because I'm from the class of S'53 and time is fleeting, I guess I'd better get busy and find a publisher before that last trip to Venice or my Muse deserts me.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and lastly, dear fellow Titans, please don't judge my intellect or writing talents by the above ramblings! ;-)
