Barb O'Neil MST Adol Psy:

CLASS OF 1980
Burnsville, MN

Barb's Story

I've learned the most important things in life aren't things...they're friends who accept you and stand behind you totally unconditionally regardless of whether or not they agree with you. Having become a teacher, working with diverse and high risk kids has been my calling in life. I treasure my experience at BHS, as while it was large, there was something for everyone and it prepared me for what the real world had to offer. The highlight of my 3 years was the great teachers and variety of educational choices we had, something not found today in most schools. Of course softball was my most memorable experience AND winning the powder puff game....somehow ending up on the cheerleading team was fun. Best class was family and social living. I have turned to my experiences in that class in my own teaching and was a brilliant class when you really think about the objective (which they never revealed us).The worst class was sewing:) I'd love feedback from anyone else who would like to share their memories and thoughts. We will always be the BRAVES...that makes us special. Have a good day. Hello to old classmagone from the upon our 30th year from collapsing roofs, wear snowsuits to class and shoveling in front of our lockers. Since I've been out of state from 1986-2005, I have lost contact with many people. Now I'm back and hope everyone is doing well. For those who knew my brother, he's in Denver and just releasing his first book. For anyone who knew both of us..yes we're still polar opposites except in our passion for life, life and our professions. I have not seen any information on next year's reunion...Expand for more
, if anyone bothers to read this (strictly out of boredom of course) and would like to share it....preferably with me, please do so. Even after getting my B.S. (it fits I know) and my Graduate Teaching Assistantship, believe it or not graduating top in my class....no there were not just 2 students...I never could have done it without all of you guys not only in " but especially the class of 1979...I won't name names, let's just say they played soccer I softball and I had to do all of the Trig. assignments in triplicate. One thing has changed since I first put up my profile. I got accepted into a few Doctoral Programs. I started online, but things are too stressful around my household and I don't know you can take a class that really doesn't have a teach. Being a teacher, I think you need the exchange of ideas and a teacher that is there for you and you build a rapport. I'm hoping to start at the U of MN, officially next fall, but I can take classes prior to the Ph.D officially starting in the fall. Does anyone have any ideas of some good courses at that academic institution? Hope to hear from someone, perhaps I should register with another school, I didn't know the importance of what we learned outside of the classroom first when I became an inner city teacher but more when I moved back to God's country-The State of Minnesota. May 2010 be the best for everyone...since 1980 anyway. Barb PS TO THOSE WHOM WE'VE LOST WAY TOO EARLY, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, ESPECIALLY YOU TOMMY LENTZ. PSS TO FRIENDS OF BILL W. AND LOIS....YOU'RE NOT ALONE. (NOT SOMEONE IN OUR CLASS, PEOPLE WHO NEED TO KNOW WILL KNOW)
