Barbara's Story

Life After high school I went to Western Kentucky University where I played volleyball for one year. I graduated from college in 1988 with a degree in accounting. I got married to Kevin Bond in May 1989. He passed away unexpectedly in May 1994, two weeks before our 5th anniversary. I remarried in January 1997 to Steve who was an officer in the Army Special Forces. He has a step daughter who is 29 and married with two children, Keegan 6 and Abigail 4. He also has two sons, Chad 23 and Glen 19. He was transferred to Germany six months after we were married. We moved to Germany and lived there for two years. I loved living there and enjoyed traveling all over Europe. It was a great experience. We moved back to the states in August 1999 and have been living in Southern Pines, NC ever since. but this is not where we want to be forever. Workplace After college I worked as a Vehicle Inventory Control Manager at a Cadillac Dealership for 5 1/2 years. I then worked as an accountant at an advertising company. I took a break from the work force for a few years when we moved to Germany. When we returned to the states, I worked at a Brokerage Firm and then a Golf Management Company as the Assistant to the Controller. I currently take care of the accounting and taxes for three companies. My husband and I also have our own company. It is a security firm. He travels all over the world working with the military and police forces to train individuals how to track people. He also does high end security assessments on Bio-chem plants, water treatment facilities, buildings, and towns. While he is out traveling, I take care of all of the financial issues and taxes of our company.
